Let’s face it being divorced isn’t the greatest thing ever invented. The demands on your time are doubled, maybe tripled, and you find your self always on the go never able to slow down and enjoy life on your terms. It is a never ending battle..one which no one taught you how to deal with. On top of everything else now you are responsible for feeding your kids 2, 3, sometimes 4 times a week. My guess is very few of you are graduates of a Culinary school, which means you have one more thing to learn.
This is not a blog which will teach you how to cook. I’ll save that for another day. For now remember that the Food Channel can be your best friend when it comes to learning how to cook. No this posting is all about what/who you see when you look in the mirror.
A life of fast food (after all it is very easy to “put a meal on the table” when the Colonel puts it all in a big bucket for you), microwave breakfast and snacks, a beer or few, bar nuts and chips, some ice cream, all washed down with diet coke and rum (no carbs) will leave you looking like a lineman not the stud running back you once were. What makes this even worse is that when you look at your kids you see them struggling to lose the “baby fat”. Is it any wonder why?
Our children want to be like Dad so bad that they mimic our actions. When those actions are good..it is amazing to see them follow in our footsteps. But when they are our everyday no brainer actions (check the floor board of car for fast food containers, or waste baskets for empty chip bags) the results can be devastating. We are setting our kids up for a life time of weight struggles.
If you find yourself needing to get back in control of you..here is an awesome site that might be able to help www.mymedifastsuccess.com , however, if you are lucky it might just require you to start walking and bike riding with your kids, eat less, eat more veggies, and cut out half the beers you’ve been drinking a week. Make a competition out of walk. See if y’all can walk every day the kids are with you no matter what the weather is like. Every step y’all take together is not only a step towards becoming healthier, but a step that only a Dad and his Child can take together.
Discover the real you hidden beneath the divorced you.
Now do what you have to do to…
Make it a super day,
Kevin
